We really like the name Charlie/ee for a girl and would LIKE to spell it Charlee. My dad's name is Charles, my FIL dad's name is Lee = hence Char-lee!
Do you think the majority of people would pronounce it Shar-lee? or Char-lee? I actually think "Sharlee" is pretty too... I just don't want her to have to correct everyone all the time.
I'm not a huge fan of "weird" spellings with typical names, just wanted to incorporate our dads
Open to opinions!!!
Re: Girl name: Charlee/Charlie
Oh look, this name again.
I think if you spell it Charlee, your child will spend her whole life correcting people's spelling and pronunciation. People will hear it and assume it's spelled Charlie. People who see it will want to pronounce it Shar-lee.
Your kid will be dealing with this issue forever.
What about naming her Charlotte and calling her Charlie as a nn?
lol! I LOVE boy names for girls! Drew, Jordan ... too cute (to me)

I don't mind Charlie as a NN for a girl, but I really think you should consider a feminine formal name.
What about:
Caroline Lee
Charlize Lee
Charlene Lee
Carla Lee
Charlotte Lee
Carlotta Lee

We've hashed this out a lot here - but what if your daughter doesn't think it's so cute when she has to deal with being Mr. Charlie the rest of her life?
I agree with this. Charlie isnt my favorite for a girl at all, but if you want to use it, I'd suggest giving her a name like Charlotte, like pp suggested above. I dont see Charlie or Charlee looking very professional on a resume in 30 years either.
I know you want to honor your dad and FIL, but those are males. Your daughter is a female. Are there any female names in the family you could use? What if your next child is a boy and both Charles and Lee are "taken" by big sister?

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of No sense in "honoring" our dads and have it be a pain in the *you know what* for the kid ....
Not a fan of Charlotte, we'd probably just pick a new name all together...

This. Totally a boy name.
I've seen it done Charliegh for a girl more often than Charlee.
Have you considered Charlotte nn Charlie?
Agreed. Over it.
I think the smooshed spelling is incredibly cheesy. You don't have to honor everybody with one baby. And why don't you want to honor any females in your family?
In any event, I think most people will pronounce it Charlie even if spelled incorrectly.
Exactly.
OP, our puppy's name is Charlie (and is a boy). This makes it hard for me to picture it on a baby (especially a girl!).

I'd pronounce it Charlie
Not a fan for a girl unless it's a NN. Like for Charlene, Charlotte, etc
Don't use Charlee or Charlie. You are having a girl not a boy.
Carly would be a good choice.
Perfect way to honor both names
My thought exactly.

This name is so trendy. There's no way it stands the test of time. I feel like naming your kid Charlee guarantees to date her for the rest of her life.
ZoooooooMaGOooooooooooooooood!! It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!! Totally!
Ick. Like BlueRidge said...This name again?
Here's the thing...what's "cute" on a 3 year old is ridiculous on a 30 year old trying to make partner in her law firm. And it'll be SUPER fun for her always having to tell people that she's actually a woman. It's going to be awesome when an employer looks at her resume and calls thinking that she's a man, because guess what? She has a MAN'S NAME. Her wedding invitation will make it look like everyone just got invited to a wedding for two men..."Celebrating the union of Charlie and Dave." Or God forbid she actually meets a man named Charlie.
I'm sorry...we're going for "too cute" here, not practical, beautiful, and dignified. My bad.
Hahahaha...I know. Some idiot out there named their DAUGHTER "Charlie Rose." I almost did a spittake when I read that.
